Attonement (at-one-ment)

To resist not the chattering child tugging at the hem of my mind,
incessantly vying for my attention.
To seek not the stilled wisdom trapped within the noise
of chattering children all around.
To witness them both, in the ordinary moment at hand.
This is my awakening.

To drop the pushing away and the reaching for,

and with it, the fiction of future.
This is the way of response ability....
Atonement for the giggling child
scooting playfully beneath the pews of religion.
